Below are recent examples of forecasts in the energy markets.
The first chart is of daily unleaded gas futures data. The projection begins in February, 2000 and then extends nearly two years into the future as represented by the bright red center line. The yellow line represents what the futures did on a detrended basis using our proprietary oscillator. Again, this is a true projection, with the software unaware of what the market actually did. Normally, as time passes, new data are taken into account to sharpen the analysis. However, in this case it is an unaltered projection of nearly two years.
This next chart is of crude oil from September, 2000. This long-term projection did not track as well as the one in unleaded gas, but in real time the actual analysis proved more accurate as new data were added.
